King Size Mattress Guide

King Size Mattress

King size mattresses:

Fit for a King- the King Size Mattress is the largest non-custom mattress out there on the market.  They will generally be the most expensive offering in a mattress line, this includes the bedding products associated with them, but they provide the most room for a couple or family to lay out and lounge around on a lazy Sunday morning.

The standard king size mattress is generally 76 inches wide by 80 inches long, and are the widest non custom made mattresses on the market.  There are however two sizes of King mattresses now offered:

  • Standard or Eastern King- 76 inches wide by 80 inches long
  • California or Western King- 72 inches wide by 84 inches wide (best for users 6 feet tall and over)

PRO’S:

King size mattresses afford you a lot of room, offering ample sleeping space for larger sleepers.  They can also accommodate families that like to let the kids and pets jump up on the bed during those lazy weekend mornings.

CON’S:

The downside is that a king size mattress is in fact larger, heavier, and more difficult to move around by yourself than other sized mattresses.  King size mattresses also require larger rooms to fit comfortably in.  Finally, due to their larger size, king size mattresses, as well as their bedding (pillow cases, sheets, bed pads), typically costs more.
